Clicking a document/item location opens that location in the sidebar.
Clicking a user name opens this person's business card.
To filter the updates view:
By default, you see all types of updates. You can filter the updates view using:
Updates filter (). The filter menu lets you select / unselect the types of document/item updates you will see:
Documents. When unselected, updates on new and updated documents in locations you follow are not shown.
Lists. When unselected, updates on new and updated list items in lists you follow are not shown.
<Favorite location 1>. When unselected, updates for documents/items in this location are not shown.

Note: You can use the Documents/items filter to follow more SharePoint locations. Open the filter and select Follow other favorites to launch the Favorites dialog. Select a location you want to edit, click Edit > Follow library / folder / list updates.
Click the Show More icon () to open the full mode business card. The Recent Updates section shows the SharePoint updates made by this person, and the SharePoint documents/items he/she changed. Note: You are only notified with document/items changes in SharePoint locations that you follow.
To remove a location from the updates list:
Unfollow that SharePoint location (library, folder, or list).
How often does the Updates view update?
By default, the Updates view refreshes every 60 minutes. The interval can be changed in the options.
To manually update the Updates view, click the Refresh button ().
The Updates tab:
When no social server is configured, the People tab is replaced by the Updates tab. In this case it includes changes only in SharePoint locations that you follow: new document/item created or updated.
