Communicating with people

Communicating with people

This feature is available for IBM Notes 8.0.1 and above.

harmon.ie makes it easy to communicate with people, by e-mail, chat, phone calls, and video calls:

  • The business cards shown in the People tab and the people information pane include icons to Send an instant message (), Call (), or Send an e-mail message (). Click an icon to start communicating with this person. Learn more about finding people and about the business card.

  • Wherever a user name is displayed in harmon.ie (for example in the Sites tab in columns that refer to users, in the Note Board or the Version History panes) it is displayed with presence awareness (Active, Away, Do Not Disturb, and so on). Right-clicking the presence awareness icon brings up an instant messaging context menu, which lets you start communicating with this person, by chat, voice or video call, and e-mail.

harmon.ie supports Microsoft Lync, IBM Lotus Sametime and OCS (Office Communications Server) presence awareness for instant messaging.

Note:

  • You must be logged in to Microsoft Lync, IBM Lotus Sametime, or Office Communicator for this feature to work.
  • Instant messaging is not available in the standalone application.
  • Dragging documents to the Sametime chat window requires that the administrator has enabled this Sametime feature.
  • The setting Drag files instead of document links to IBM Notes applications in the Preferences dialog does not affect the behavior of dragging SharePoint documents to the Sametime chat window.

To learn more about the mapping between SharePoint and Lync / OCS users, read the knowledge base article How SharePoint user names are mapped to OCS / Lync for presence awareness.

To learn more about the mapping between SharePoint and Sametime users, read the knowledge base article How SharePoint user names are mapped to Sametime for presence awareness.
