Contracts, proposals, design specifications, manifests, and other types of documents are key tools for doing business. In the course of business, many people contribute to these documents by providing edits, feedback, criticism, and eventually consensus. But getting everyone in the organization 'on the same page' has been a challenge. Document management systems like Microsoft SharePoint have done much to bring order to document chaos, through streamlined handling of document revisions.

In parallel, the recent introduction of enterprise social networking has let workers reach out to colleagues to get advice and provide feedback, speeding collaboration cycles. However, document collaboration and social networking are largely independent efforts.

Now, for the first time, harmon.ie combines enterprise social interactions with document collaboration to provide a powerful way for typical employees to follow document evolution and reach out to colleagues, within the context of the document. For example, when sending out a contract proposal for feedback, it is no longer necessary to call or email colleagues to see if they have edited the document. With harmon.ie, you can immediately see which colleagues have made changes, right in the place you spend your workday; the email window.

  • View complete SharePoint profiles from an email message, document, calendar appointment, activity stream update or task. Profiles include contact details, background, online status, and recent activities.
  • By integrating Microsoft Lync®/OCS, IBM Lotus Sametime® and SharePoint directly in Notes, business users have all their collaboration resources in a single window. Users can reach out to peers via email, phone call, videoconferencing or instant messaging, within the context of shared projects and documents.
  • Build your enterprise social network adding colleagues from the 'suggested colleagues' list. harmon.ie suggests colleagues based upon existing communication patterns that include email, UC (Unified Communication), and most importantly, who users co-author/co-edit documents with. Advanced Favorites dialog allows you to follow the changes made in your favorite SharePoint libraries.
  • 'Social Version History' reveals which colleagues edited each version of a document; SharePoint profiles of these colleagues are presented in the same window.
  • 'Group by' allows users to expand / collapse documents according to their group
