Getting to know the harmon.ie sidebar

  1. The Navigation/Search bar at the top of the sidebar displays the current view, and allows you to filter your Google documents, to navigate to a folder, and to search for documents.
  2. The Back and Forward buttons allow you to navigate back and forward in the navigation history. Click and hold the mouse button on the back and forward buttons to see a list of recent locations.
  3. The Refresh button updates your documents list with recent changes from the server. The refresh buttons spins when a server operation is in progress (for example, files are uploaded to Google Docs).
  4. The Actions bar contains common actions: (a) New creates a new document or folder, (b) Upload lets you upload a document to Google Docs, (c) Actions opens a menu of common actions, such as Open, Folders, and Share, and (d) Sort by allows you to sort the documents list by Title, Owner, Last modified time, and Modified by.
  5. The documents list shows all Google documents belonging to the selected view. By default, all items are shown. You can drag documents to and from the sidebar upload and download them.
  6. A row in the documents list describes a single document, and it contains the (e) Title, (f) Owner, (g) Last modified time, (h) Modified by, and icons indicating if it is (i) shared, and (j) belongs to a folder. Overlaid on the (k) icon of each item, you can see if the item is (l) starred or not. Click the (m) Actions label of an item to gain access to even more document operations. You can also right-click to see the same available actions for one or more selected documents.
  7. The View bar at the bottom gives you quick access to common views: All Items, Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, PDF Files, Folders, Starred, Owned by Me, Opened by Me, Shared with Me, Hidden, and Trash. The sidebar is typically too narrow to show all view buttons. In this case, click the arrow to the right to see the rest of the view buttons.
