Configuring the Social Server

To search for people, view My Site information, people information, document rating, and note boards, you need to connect to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 or to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 as a social networking platform.

How to configure a social server?

By default, you do not have to configure a social server. When you add a site on SharePoint 2010 or MOSS to harmon.ie, it is automatically set as your social server.

If you have more than one site registered for the SharePoint server, the credentials for the first listed site are used to identify you on the social server.

To manually configure or change the social server:

If harmon.ie fails to recognize your social server automatically, you can manually configure or change the social server:

  1. Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the harmon.ie ribbon group, or select Options from the harmon.ie sidebar menu, and select the People tab.
  2. In the drop-down list General > Select the social server, select the social network server from any of the registered SharePoint 2010 or MOSS sites.

Note: If your social server does not appear in the list of available social networking servers, add a SharePoint site from your social server to include it in the list.
