Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed

Hi,

We have being getting the following error when we try to re-install harmon.ie on a client PC: Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed

System Info:
Windows 7 x64
Office 2010 x64
harmon.ie 3.1.4671 x64

We had an issue with Office 2010 and harmon.ie on a client machine and we decided to uninstall both and re-install. They were uninstalled via the Add/Remove Programs and the system was restarted. Office 2010 was re-installed but we are unable to install harmon.ie

We have tried using the same version of harmon.ie that was previously installed (3.1.4671) and the latest version downloaded from your website today (27/01/12) without any luck. I've also tried using msicuu2.exe utility “Windows Install cleanup” but harmon.ie is not on the list.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Unable to install because a newer version of this product....

Hi,

Thanks for your response.
I've tried all of the above (twice) but I'm still faced with the same error. I'm using a licensed copy of the product however, I also tried installing the free version from your website just to see if I get the error but I get a different error this time. For some reason, it tries to install the x86 version and fails because Office 2010 x64 is installed.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Unable to install

Hi,

Would you please download the package from URL:
ftp://perf:perf@ftpus.mainsoft.com/perf.zip
Extract it inside a directory then select our 64 bits package by typing:

msiexec /i HarmonieSharePointSetup.x64.Ent.licensed.msi /L*v harmonie_install.log

In the case you still have the same problem, please attach harmonie_install.log.

Could you please check the version of msiexec installed on your side? (see my screen shot, I have version 5.0.7601.17514 on windows 7 64 bits)
try to upgrade to version 5.0.x if possible.

Regards.

Unable to install

Hi,

Thanks for you email and it looks like the issue has now been resolved.

I followed your instructions above with your attached installer, however I did not get the error message I was originally getting. This time it was prompting me to locate the x86 msi file that was previously installed on this PC. I went through the log file and saw that it was pointing to the Share on the server where the installer was originally installed from.

I decided to do the following:

1. Uninstall Office 2010 x64 - Restart
2. Install Office 2007 x86
3. Install Harmonie x86 (Your Version)
4. Uninstall Harmonie x86
5. Uinstall Office 2007 x86 - Restart
6. Install Office 2010 x64
7. Install Harmonie x64 (Our version 3.1.4671)

Success!!

Thanks again for your support.

Unable to install

Well done and thanks a lot for this update !
It hence confirms a problem with the Windows msi installer after switching from Office 32 to 64 bits and upgarding Harmon.ie version.
Would you please kindly attach the msi log resulting from the msiexec command I have asked you to run. It should help me identifying this weird issues for other customers and to find a workaround (and report it to Microsoft if necessary)

You can also send it to me at: jeanb@harmon.ie

Regards.

Uninstall Problem

Thanks a lot!
I think running the msi command with flag /fv should have helped in your case (to avoid the msi from being picked up from the cache)

unable to install

Hi,

Would you please do the following:

1. Exit from outlook
2. Uninstall harmon.ie from the control panel -> Add/Remove programs. Skip this step if Harmon.ie does not appear in the list.
3. Delete the configuration folder “Harmony”, found under user profile, in C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Mainsoft
4. Delete harmon.ie installation directory, the default installation directory is under :
C:\Program Files\Mainsoft\harmon.ie for SharePoint
5. Run( unzip the file and double click on “Clean Mainsoft Reg.reg file) the attached registry file (it will remove all harmon.ie registration)
6. Download the latest harmon.ie version from our web site
7. Install harmon.ie again
8. Start Outlook

Let me then know how it goes.

Regards.
