Harmon.ie is a free sidebar for Microsoft® Outlook® that eliminates the need to use e-mail attachments. The beta release transforms Microsoft Outlook into a powerful collaboration console, with full-featured access to your documents. There are two Harmon.ie sidebars; one for Google Docs, and one for SharePoint. Both allow you to locate, share, and work on your documents quickly and easily, directly from your e-mail.
Harmonie shares linked Google documents with recipients as you send them. Recipients who don’t have a Google Account are prompted to create an account to access the documents.
We’ve tested Harmon.ie for compatibility with a large array of Outlook add-ins. If you run Harmon.ie and Xobni together, you should be aware of the following limitations in Harmon.ie:
- The option to minimize the Harmon.ie sidebar is not available.
- Sending e-mail messages from Office applications, with Outlook closed, does not work.

We are still waiting for Google Docs to provide programmatic access to upload all file types to Google Docs. Once this is available, we’ll include it in a future update to Harmon.ie for Google Docs.
Google Docs uses different links to the same shared document, depending on whether you are accessing it from a free Google account or a paid Google Apps account. If you send a document link to someone outside your domain, the link is automatically modified so that the recipient can open it from their email. This makes the link in your Sent Items folder work for the recipient, but not for you. You can still see and access your document from the sidebar and from Google Docs on the Web.

If you want to use attachments as the default behavior of the drag-and-drop operations, you can change this Harmon.ie Option.
