No metadata prompt for missing properties

Hello,

I am testing Harmon.ie for Sharepoint. Even though the "Warn me when documents are missing required properties" option is selected I receive no warnings. I can drop a document to a library configured to require certain fields, then navigate away to another email without any warnings. I want to make sure my users are forced to provide required metadata but Harmony.ie doesn't seem to be enforcing this.

Also, it would be really useful if, on uploading a document, the document properties window appeared as a popup rather than an additional pane in the sidebar. This would go a long way towards users actually applying metadata. Currently there is no reminder for them to do that.

Regards,
Greg

No metadata prompt for missing properties

Hi Greg,

Since your report is not a well-known issue could you please give a sample of a required field type exposing this problem?
Did you try to check in the document you have Dragged and Dropped? (the notification should occur at this stage after you have filled in the required fields)

Could you please raise this concern (Request for Ehancement) to your sales representative Mr. Richard Poole at richardp@harmon.ie

Regards.

No metadata prompt for missing properties

Hi Jean,

Ok, things seem to work - I just thought they would work differently. It seems to me that I should be prompted to fill out the missing metadata straight after uploading a document to Harmony and before I can navigate away from the email I dropped the attachment from. Currently the prompt instead comes up only when I try to navigate to a different site/folder in Harmony or when I try to close outlook.

This is, in my opinion, not a good solution - you can imagine a scenario when a user uploads ten documents to a library without providing the required metadata. He then goes back to his work and only gets prompted to provide metadata 3 days later when he changes a folder in Harmony or when he closes Outlook at the end of the week (the majority of my users will stay logged on throughout the week and don't shut down their PCs). All the time the documents he intended to share are checked out and unavailable to users and when he's prompted to provide metadata after 3 days he will probably just cancel the prompt away...

Is there any way to modify the settings so that users receive the metadata prompt straight away?

Greg

Thank you for confirming it works.
Bear in mind harmon.ie behaves like Sharepoint's web interface with regards to publishing options, validation rules are hence applied upon checkin that is why we do not provide any settings so that users receive the metadata prompt straight away.
We have an option which automatically opens the properties window on every upload so that the user fills in the metatda of the uploaded item (but the validation rules are still applied upon checkin like on Sharepoint)
