KB: How to add My Links to the sites and favorites lists

You can use provisioning to add groups of links from people’s My Links to the sites list and to the favorites list.

My Links can be added only if a social server is configured.

Adding My Links to the sites list:

You can provision to add all the links the user defined in his My Links, or only links from certain groups.

The site part of the link is taken, and added to the sites list. A special icon () indicates that this site was retrieved from My Links.

At the first time the user tries to access the site, harmon.ie tries to connect to it using his Windows credentials. If the connection fails the Add SharePoint Site is displayed and the user is asked to supply credentials for the site.

To add My Links to the sites list, add the following registry keys:

  • SyncSitesWithMyLinks
  • SitesDropDownVisibleItemCount (optional)

Adding My Links to the favorites list:

By default, harmon.ie adds the links defined in the Document Libraries group of My Links to the favorites list. For more information, read To add Office document libraries to your favorites list.

You can configure to remove these links or to add links from other groups as well.

To do this, define the SyncFavoritesWithMyLinks registry key, as explained in:
